greetings listers, This is my first posting in quite a while so I hope I’ve not been forgotten! My interest in my PITT WOOLLARD and HALL families has been renewed via some information I have just come across, so I am wanting to build on it. I have William WOOLLARD and his wife Ann PITT from Suffolk. Their daughter Charlotte Louisa WOOLLARD married William Charles HALL in London and the couple came to Australia in the 1850s. They were accompanied by Charlotte Louisa’s brother William WOOLLARD. They went to the goldfields to a place called Armstrong near Ararat. William WOOLLARD had married a girl in Sydney, but I do not know her name. Charles HALL and William WOOLLARD were killed in a mine collapse at Armstrong in 1859 – some listers may have heard or read of this event. The documents of the inquest are in the PRO and I have copies. Charlotte Louisa went on to marry Edward START and they became the parents of Frank START who was my maternal grandfather. William WOOLLARD’s widow married someone named BRODRIBB. What I am trying to do now is find out: a) what was the name of William WOOLLARD’s wife? b) what was the name of the BRODRIBB chap? c) how many WOOLLARD children were there before the widow married BRODRIBB, and how many were there from the second marriage? If anyone else is researching these families I’d be happy to share info with you – I believe I may have been in contact with someone who has links with WOOLLARD, but the details are hazy, I’m afraid.
