    3. Some years ago I was given a roneoed (the older members of this list will remember what "roneoed" is!!!) copy of a potted history of Clunes & Talbot. It is a typescript on foolscap and is entitled, "CLUNES. A GUIDE TO THE VISITOR (This booklet is compiled by Mr.F. C. Weickhardt and issued by the Shire of Talbot and Clunes). Revised by the Clunes Tourist and Development Association. 1975" It contains descriptions of the beauty attractions, history, modern facilities, etc of Clunes.. A second section contains "WHAT TO LOOK FOR, AND WHERE TO FIND IT (with a maps). and lists descriptions of such things as the Site of the First Settler's Home, First Gold Discoveries,.Mining Sites. The old business centre, Churches, the hospital, railway station, site of the first Chinese Riot, and a lot more. This section ends with the acknowledgement, "Compiled by F. Conrad Weickhardt for the Shire of Talbot & Clunes, 19th October, 1970. Revised 1975. A one page attachment is stapled to the foregoing, entitled, "SHIRE OF TALBOT AND CLUNES. TALBOT TOWNSHIP." It is far less organsed in its writing and gives a brief historical chronology from 1838 to the last date mentioned, 1875. Along with the foregoing is a photocopied copy of a hand-written 3 page foolscap-sized listing of Clunes Borough Council 186- 1865, giving the names of Councillors with more than 3 years service. Mayors are noted too, with period of service.). I have had this material since 1978, but am now just getting arouind to dealing with the information. It leads me to wonder if these notes were ever intended to be produced as a fuller, larger work. If so, I would be interested to know if anyone knows if a larger work was ever produced from this typescript? For that matter, I would like to hear if any history of Clunes/Talbot has been produced? I have searched the SLV catalogue and the CGS online. Nothing much of interest has turned up but since my attention is now directed to Clunes, I am interested to knoiw of other sources. Trevor
