A quick mail to the list with the subject "Rollcall" or similar is very quick and easy, however, it is not of much value. It doesn't encourage one to open the mail unless you are searching for the surname "Rollcall", in which case you will be very disappointed. It is less than useful when it gets to the archives http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/aus-vic-goldfields I would like to encourage users to apply a practice of a useful subject line, something that encourages a user to enter the email to have a look. eg. Subject: HOWARD family - Ballarat and Bendigo Then when in the body of the email, to give more than surnames. Let it be surnames, let it be a summation of a life or two, let it be periods. HOWARD family: father William, mother Isabella (née Jowles), children: James, William, Ellen, Robert, Elizabeth, Theodore, Isabella, Thomas, Robert, John. Originally from Wigan, Lancashire. Arrived "Great Britain" to Geelong 1872, to Ballarat, then to Bendigo (c.1881). more detail at http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/~billinghurst I hope that doesn't put a huge burden of time, and presents a few windows of opporunity. I also hope that you too agree that it is more of a benefit. Thanks. Regards, Andrew List-admin AUS-VIC-GOLDFIELDS mailing list
