    3. Thanx to Marcelle, Barbara and Janine for all their help and attachments. I did have the RAN records - but had negleted to re look at them - upon viewing them again I can see his next of kin (after his mother) was a Mary E HILLS c/o H HARE in Nar Nar Goon - I have found Herbert and Jessie HARE in Nar Nar Goon on the Electoral Rolls but not Mary/Mollie HILLS However, I find Mary Elizabeth RUSS on the Electoral for 1942 at the address listed in the newspaper - but no other RUSS's are listed there - the only saving grace I have is that the online Marriage records in Victoria only go up to 1942 - for some reason I thought I saw a marriage for 1944 when I checked them. So maybe - in another year or two I will find it online - alternatively - I could send a request to Vic BMD and they will do a "search" for me . Lew is actually a very lucky man - he was on board the Sydney for a while before being transferred - and we know the fate of the Sydney! Using TROVE I discovered that Shropshire got into an "australian port" (not mentioned I guess for security reasons! However there is alot of right up in the Sydney papers) in Oct 1943 - then he married with days of its arrival - so I can only assume that it was a rushed wedding as per a suggestion I received from someone else on the list. According to the website that was suggested to view - the Shropshire arrived in Perth 24 Sept 1943 - and WA boys were given leave, then they arrived in Sydney 2 Oct 1943 - no mention of Melbourne - so he must of made his way to Melbourne to get married and that was why it was rushed I suppose - the left Sydney on 29 October 1943. I have sent a msg to Mr Nicholls - who runs the site, maybe he will remember Lew? Hmmm - sadly that bounced back - oh well. Thankyou very much, to everyone for taking the time to read my msg and help me out all the best Virginia
