Dear List I am looking for a family who arrived in Adelaide in early 1852 from St Andreasberg, in the Harz Mountains, Hannover, Germany. We know from a letter, that after a disappointing meeting with relatives in South Australia, son Carl, who had travelled with his mother and sister, thought he might try his hand on the goldfields. I've not found any trace of them in the Digger indexes for South Australia and Victoria, not the online records of Tasmania, WA, NSW, and Qld, or NZ. Would someone be able to check the Goldfields Hospital Index, and also I remember that there is a miner's index which someone has compiled. Is it possible to have check the names below against these. Carl Georg Louis PALM, born abt.1828, St Andreasberg, Hanover, Germany. Henriette Ernestine PALM, born abt 1826, St Andreasberg. And mother, Louisa (or Johanna Louisa) PALM, nee LAUENSTEIN (1st marriage to a CONRADI, 2nd marriage to a PALM, born c.1790. Any further ideas for trying to trace these folk would be welcome. Have you seen the 1857 naturalization papers for Carl August Herman PALM? I would suggest you contact the Lutheran Archives in South Australia. They are the archives for the whole of Australia.
