Thanks John for the suggested web site. I agree, some great photos of Majorca. I was hoping to find some of Alma - but no luck. Does anyone know where I might locate anything on Alma? Regards Joan

Hello all, I have been away from this group for 3 years or so, and now I am doing another branch of my family. I am hoping members may be able to help me with this Nicholls side. My gr/grandmother was Mary Bishop (nee Nicholls), husband Henry. Mary Nicholls was ch March 26, 1837 in Westerleigh, Gloucestershire, England, to Ann (Reid/Read) and James Nicholls. She came with her sister Priscilla to NSW, as assisted immigrants on the "Asiatic" 23 May 1855. She married Henry Bishop 17 July 1862, at Campbells Creek, Castlemaine. They had four sons and two daughters there. Three sons died in infancy, leaving only my grandfather. Mary came out to Otago, NZ in 1880 with her son and 2 daughters on the ship "Te Anau" to join her husband who had come out earlier to secure a teaching position in Otago. Have not found what ship he came out to Otago from Victoria on. Any help with the Nicholls family would be most appreciated. A brother William was said to have come out to Australia in 1848. What happened to Priscilla ? Kind regards, Kayleen. NZ.

Hi Margaret (?) :) I have a Hubbard in my own tree, Phillip Hubbard who married into one of my lines. I have absolutely no information on him, maybe it's time I did some research on that line. I think it's great that everyone posts these family reunions to the list, because despite the fact that I can't go (bit too far from Germany to "pop in" I'm afraid! lol), it's nice to know when they're happening! :D Take care, Rob. Hello Listers Thanks to all the kind responses to my query I now know exactly where Craigie is located. (Actually exactly where I was hoping it might be). Have now also added some worthwhile web sites to my records. Have answered everyone direxctly, hope I haven't missed anyone, if so please accept my thanks. If you go to http://www.visitvictoria.com and click on 'Route Planner' in the left hand side column, you will get to a page where you can enter your starting point, followed by your destination. When you do that, a route map will be drawn. I suggest that you enter Maryborough as your starting point, and Craigie as your destination. This will locate Craigie for you vis a vis Maryborough, Carisbrook, and surrounding countryside. You can zoom in and out and the map will be redrawn each time. I have an 1861 marriage at Craigie (Harse-Peters). The marriage took place in the HARSE house. Trevor
Hi Joan re where it is - a good source is an interactive map on a Victoria Government site. You will need to click on 'I accept' and then do a word search on Craigie (in the left hand side box which will bring up a great map with named roads. See http://services.land.vic.gov.au/landchannel/jsp/TermsAndConditions.jsp?serviceName=interactivemap Once the map comes up you can zoom in by clicking on the name Craigie. Each click will progressively bring up a more detailed map right down to outlines of individual blocks. Hi Listers On behalf of my daughter who is searching for her school friend of 20 years ago, Julie-Ann WADDELL, her brother Phillip WADDELL and their mother Joyce WADDELL. Joyce married secondly to Dennis YOUNG and it is believed that the children changed their surname to YOUNG at that time and at least one daughter was born of the new union. The family was then living at St Peters in Adelaide. Julie-Ann and Phillip attended East Marden Primary School then Marden High School (both in South Aus). The family moved to country Victoria (Wedderburn??) and to Heidelburg and it is understood that Joyce and Dennis parted company. Joyce, Julie-Ann and Phillip and ?? moved to Queensland. Should anyone know of the whereabouts of this family my daughter Heather nee AUSTIN would be really pleased to reestablish contact. Many thanks. Hi everyone :) Sorry for taking so long to send more of these certificates to you, we've had terrible problems with our ISP lately and our computers, and of course getting over our head colds. I think everything went on strike from this heat! ;D Anyway, here's the rest of the names on the certificates I have, if you would like a scanned copy please let me know! :D Some of these certificates cover areas outside the Goldfields' towns, but I'll add them anyway, you just never know who could use them. All these were names of miners from the Sandhurst/Eaglehawk area in the Bendigo gold rush days. Moreover, Alfred Motherstone married Mary Ann Quennell in 1848 at Sandhurst. The Nelsons were William and John Dunbar Nelson. Does anyone recall any mention anywhere of these people? Hi List, I would like to say a very big thank you to peter and Gaylene and Mary for all their help regarding my question about W.A. Research. Thank you all very much you have helped enormously. Judy
Hi Judy, you can do some research on basic BDM up to 1905 for free via the WA Govt site at http://www.justice.wa.gov.au/portal/server.pt/gateway/PTARGS_0_2_323_201_0_43/http;/justicecontent.extranet.justice.wa.gov.au/bdm/default.asp?structureID=96554822&ResourceID=295610339 Also some of the cemeteries can be quite good too and can help with more recent records.
