Hello Alice - Can't find any one of the above name in the family as I know it - Patrick Hussey, my husband's grandfather. had an unknown number of brothers and sisters, but it does not appear that any of them came to Australia. There was possibly a sister called Mary, and one called Ann, but I haven't been able to trace them. Because this family would have been living during the time of the great famine (mid 1840's) its possible that they may not all have survived. Because so many immigrated to the US, finding them is well nigh impossible. But thanks for your interest. Pat.
Dear Helen - Whoa - you've lost me - Any expertise I have comes courtesy of a wonderful grandson who works for an IT firm- I'll discuss the spamfiller with him next time I see him - Sounds like a good idea though, and thank you. Cheers Pat
Hi Tom - Not that we know about - I think I have chased up as many "Hussey" names as there sands on the seashore - but all to no avail. The only other possibility is that my husband's grandfather's family came from outer space - and disappeared thereto - But, I keep trying- Cheers. Pat
Hello all, Would anyone have any history on the Goulds of Marmsbury, Taradale, Macedon, Mt. Macedon and surrounding areas. Also the property held by a Mr. Mitchell in Macedon or Mt. Macedon. John Gould was a convict who came out here on the Marion and was bonded to a Mr. Mitchell of Macedon, but can't seem to locate the area at Macedon. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Janis indexes for marriages only go to 1940 births to 1920 and deaths to 1985. I found one death but the others may well have lived past 1985 and could still be alive. Carmel Digger - Death Index. To date, I have not been able to connect him with any other Hussey family in Australia. But, as always, we keep on trying - Good luck. Pat. _____________________________
When copying some entries from the Dunolly Burgess Roll 1869, at the Maryborough Family History Day last Sunday week, I was surprised to see that a female in my family was listed as a burgess and entitled to one vote. My question is, did female property owners have the right to vote in municipal elections in Victoria 1869? I know when they had the vote in State and Federal elections, but the right to vote in municipal elections as early as 1869 surprised me when I saw the entry. Any comment? Trevor
Good on you Pat. A saying we have at our U3A group - "You are never too old to learn new things" Cheers Joan

Hi Rob- couldn't agree more - I was talking tongue in cheek when I replied to Janine, age is definitely only a state of mind - I have friends who are OLD at 60 - Can you believe it? And I only decided to try and come to terms with this confounded computer after I turned 80!!!Still press the wrong keys often, but I'm having fun with it. Cheers Pat.
Have replied direct. For general info, the Wollongong paper is the Illawarra Mercury, noted for extravagant journalism. To retrieve a notice of any kind will cost you something like $2.20 Paul Blair Canberra

Could anyone tell me if I can find death notices online for people in the Ballarat area in the early 1900s. I thought this might be a way of finding some of my missing rellies. If not is there anyone who can do a lookup for me? Regards Janis
Hello Margaret, There are still DALZIELs in the Cairns and surrounding regions. In fact the name DALZIEL is mentioned in the Far North Qld Pioneer Register to 1940 which is available through the Cairns and District Family History Society. No McMILLAN but there is a McMELLAN.
