    2. John and Kim Hynes
    3. Hi Pat My interest is not with your Hussey, but with the town he died, Mitiamo. Who ’d ever thought that someone else has a link to this town (less than 100 pop.) I will be seeing my father in a couple of weeks and taking him to see his brother who lives in Mitiamo. He has lived there for most of his 83 years. Do you want me to follow up on something while I am there?? If so, send details to assist me. John Hynes Queensland -- Internal Virus Database is out-of-date. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. 2. Norman Archibald
    3. Hello Listers, Firstly, i would like to apologise for the non genie posting ( or is it ??) Could SKS please advise off list, how i go about copying saved genie emails to disc. I have a CD burner, but am unsure how i go about copying those saved emails to a CD. I`m frightened to experiment in case i inadvertently "loose" the emails. I have nearly 2000 saved emails and i would like to save them to disc in case my computer decides to crash at some time in the future. My email address : normanarch@yahoo.com.au Regards, Norm.

    1. Re: Female Immigrants Depot
    2. promcsys
    3. Hi List Perhaps there was more than one Immigrants Home, but some information I have received ... (2nd hand, I might add, is as follows) ... "The Melbourne Immigrants Home was established by Walter Powell of the Wesleyan Church in 1852 for the temporary accommodation of immigrants. The Immigrants Home comprised of a dining-room which could accommodate 200 persons, a sleeping room for 100 persons, one hospital for males, another for females, a library reading room, plus private apartments for the govenor and matron. It had a large store for immigrant's luggage, a kitchen, a bakehouse, a servant's room and washroom. During the first 15 months of it's existance, the number of persons accommodated in the immigrants home was 2,773". My own interest is the birth of Emma Isabella Prosser, born in the Immigrants Home, Melbourne on 28 July 1854. Her parents were Henry and Matilda Prosser (nee Cameron), so it may have provided short term accommodation for couples, as well as single mums. Henry and Matilda's second child, Henry, was born in Ballarat in January 1856, and the certificate states "one deceased child", so Emma died some time pre-January 1856, but I have been unable to find a death record for her. By this time the family was on the Ballarat goldfields and Henry (senior) was a miner. Now, because the number of immigrants stated is "2,773 in the first 15 months", I believe there must be a list out there SOMEWHERE, but unfortunately have failed to find it. If anybody stumbles across this list in their research, I would appreciate hearing from them. Sadly, my own research has not been very fruitful, but I believe the Wesleyan Immigrants Home was situated roughly where Wesley College is now located in the Melbourne University Grounds. 3. Hi Janis, I could not find Wildan/William on the death CD to 1985. Nor could I find any other children for O'Neill & McKeegan, under any variation. No luck with Annie's death either. However, I did find this in the WW2 records... http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/script/name.asp Name O'NEILL, WILLIAM RICHARD Service Australian Army Service Number NX49868 Date of Birth 19 Jan 1920 Place of Birth PRAHRAN, VIC Date of Enlistment 29 Oct 1941 Locality on Enlistment NARELLAN, NSW Place of Enlistment PADDINGTON, NSW Next of Kin O'NEILL, WILLIAM Date of Discharge 19 Dec 1945 Rank Trooper Posting at Discharge HQ SQN 1 ARMD BDE WW2 Honours and Gallantry None for display Prisoner of War No If this William is your Wildan, the record would indicate he moved to NSW. Perhaps the whole family did. Are you sure your Wildan was born in 1924? I searched the NSW BDM's, but I couldn't see anything relevant. You can request to see this chap's record on-line at the National Archives... http://www.naa.gov.au/the_collection/recordsearch.html Kind regards, Sherrie. Sydney, NSW. 1. RE: Sites for BDM Certificates
    2. Jack Earnshaw
    3. Joan As well as FreeBMD, which is totally free but incomplete, there are two other subscriber sites. 1837online at http://www.1837online.com/Trace2web/LogonServlet This charges for each "page" from the indexes that is displayed. You buy a number of units and each page is 1 unit. You can only search for a page that "might" contain the name as the index only has the first and last name on the page. The other one is Family Relatives at https://www.familyrelatives.org/treequest/jsp/customer/index.jsp Again it is a page per view and charges 2 units for the index and a further amount to see the image of the original page. The main difference is that they have a completed "every name" index from 1866-1920. Else it is similar to 1837 online. Don't forget that with FreeBMD, as well as the lookup indexes, you can browse through the original index pages - if they are there. A bit painful, but as it's free it's worth trying there first. Ancestry.com or Ancestry.co.uk also has a copy of FreeBMD, plus a complete index for 1984 onwards (as do the other two sites mentioned) Jack -----Original Message----- From: Carmel M Reynen [mailto:fcfibre1@bigpond.com] Sent: 05 October 2005 23:09 To: AUS-VIC-GOLDFIELDS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: Sites for BDM Certificates http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl Carmel ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joan Canning" <joannieroannie@bigpond.com> To: <AUS-VIC-GOLDFIELDS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 05, 2005 10:05 PM Subject: Sites for BDM Certificates > Hi > > Re emails early last month. 2. Janis
    3. I have just received the inquest papers of my gguncles death and found that he had a brother William O'Neil who was a farmer at Hardies Hill in 1873. What I am trying to find out is if there is a William O'Neil buried at Buninyong Cemetery as that is where the other 2 brothers John and Charles are buried .It is quite a common name and there are plenty of them around. In the inquest papers it said that he was with his nephew Dennis Ryan. William's parents were John O'Neil and Johannah Gearin/Guerin. I have found only one William O'Neil married to a Ryan but there were no parents mentioned. Any help would be great. TIA Janis ps a big thanks to Gaylene for getting the papers for me
