Hi My ggrandfather John Lotu Cawble Macfarlane B 18.5.1826 Renfrew Scotland M Susan Attfield B 17.10.1836 Surrey England had 7 children 2 B Dunolly 3 B Amherst 1B Kingston 1B Prahran. I have all the details of the family except John's death. The last child born was Robert Reid Macfarlane in 1869 who died at 35 weeks at Springhurst. John's parents were Robert Macfarlane and Catherine Brown. Then there is a gap. Susan died at Traralgon 6.12.1905 and is shown as a widow. Her obituary doesn't mention John and we don't know where he died. He is not in the Traralgon cemetery. There are many listings of just John Macfarlane in the BDM's some with unknown parents. Any leads wound be most appreciated. Regards Graham Brittain

Hello Listers, I have really enjoyed reading about everyone's research names. Have yet to find a definite match but still like the connection of shared interests! A very kind soul advised me that the Buninyong Cemetery has two infants buried there, father, Thomas FOWLER. As a Sydney resident with little chance of reaching that area anytime soon, I'm wondering if anyone will be visiting the cemetery in the near (or even not so near) future! If so, I would be most grateful if you could advise me of any such infant graves and the details there on. I'm more than happy to reciprocate with Sydney lookups! Cheers Maureen

Hi Hilary, A search on Google might yield something. When seeking information re one of my ancestors I contacted The United Grand Lodge of Victoria who pointed me in the right direction. This thread has piqued my interest as my late mother lived as a child in a house in Tress (spelling?) street which she told me used to be a police station. She took me to see it when I was a child, but by that time is was abandoned and derelict. I remember it was right up the top of a hill. Does anyone have any info about this place? Could SKS help me with obtaining the records of my ggfather who was a Freemason in Ballarat in 1880's, please. His name was John Forbes SPILLMAN. Thanks Helen
Hello, Most of the Camp Street police precinct is now part of the University of Ballarat Arts Academy. You should be able to enter the buildings, but some rooms may have classes in them. One of the Court HOuses is now used as an administration area for the Ballarat Fine Arr Gallery, so would not be open to the public. An early Court House in Lydiard street is now used as a performing Arts Centre in the University of Ballarat's SMB (School of Mines) complex. I have some photos in the university's Historical Collection. IS there anything in particular you are looking for? Hi Pat I've been cleaning up my inbox and I've been saving your message and just remembered why...!!! Just wondering if the HUSSEY in your family includes the HUSSEY's from Warrandyte, Victoria where a road was named after them (Husseys Lane)...? To date, I have not been able to connect him with any other Hussey family in Australia. But, as always, we keep on trying - Good luck.
