    3. Always a good idea to do a "re-post" every now and then to let us newbies know who's doing whom (genealogically speaking I mean!). I'm doing the RICHARDSON family of Bendigo, starting with Buried in Bendigo CemeteryCuthbert Ridley RICHARDSON. He was working as a "Carter" in 1873, then described as a "General Dealer" on his Death Certificate in 1895 and as a "Store Keeper" on son, James' Marriage Certificate in Western Australia in 1898. Cuthbert Ridley RICHARDSON b. 1842 Newcastle-on-Tyne, Northumberland, d. 3 Oct 1895 Bendigo. Married Mary Ann BAMFORD Oct 1868 Dandenong. Children include: Cuthbert Ridley RICHARDSON (Jnr) b. 1869 d. 1957 Western Australia James Edward RICHARDSON b. 1873 Bendigo d. 1924 Western Australia Also researching C R RICHARDSON's brother George Bouchier RICHARDSON who at one time was an editor of a newspaper in Ballarat and also in Geelong, b. 1822 Newcastle-on-Tyne, d. 1877, North Adelaide, South Australia. 1. RE: My interest's, Quick, Roberts, Knowles, Browning ( Fryers Creek ), also Martin, Cunliffe (Wedderburn)
    2. Adele Borg
    3. Hi All, My interests are in both sides of my family, my fathers, Quick, Roberts, Knowles, Browning, Escott. All residing in Fryers Creek, Castlemaine & Inglewood area's they were associated with Mining both my Great and my Grandfather on the Quick side had mining leases although I have not got copies of them yet. They were known as Quick and Party. My mothers side I have not long found out that the Martin side also was a miner, he lived in the Wedderburn district. A few weeks ago I went on a bit of a family trek from the areas they lived in, I found my Great grandfathers grave in Fryers Creek ( Fryers Town ) an old peaceful clean and pretty cemetery, it was very exciting as I had thought he was buried at Inglewood Cemetery, my husband and I also found other family members graves there, we took photo's and video's of the areas we visited, so that I could go back on the information I had documented, we also visited the Castlemaine Historical Society, they were wonderful and gave me a wealth of information on my Great grandfathers death etc., I even met a relation and her daughter from the Browning side she was lovely and gave me also her information that she had on her family tree, I now have heard from her Brother so I have another 2 family contacts to keep in touch with. I hope to do it again in the near future I don't know whether my husband will be too keen unless we bypass the cemeteries. ( I think we visited about 6 of them and in the end I could see he'd had enough.) For all who are a bit lost with your family history I suggest you do what we did have a break, work out where you want to visit, take time to enjoy the area's, we stayed in some lovely bed and breakfasts ( these are the ones that you have a unit or house to yourself )each no longer than a few days and moved around to where we were visiting, mid week is cheaper, we took it easy, we enjoyed the country hospitality, to complete the journey my husband wanted to go to Echuca where a festival was on, so I compromised on that. Kind regards Adele mailto:adele@alink.com.au

    1. Murdoch & Stodden & Martin
    2. Faye
    3. Hi List The names I'm researching in the Goldfields area are MURDOCH, STODDEN and MARTIN. Robert MURDOCH and Margaret McCALLUM, my 2xggrandparents, were married in Glasgow, Scotland February 1843 before they came to Victoria (don't know exactly when) and settled in the Bendigo area. Their son Archibald MURDOCH married Margaret SINGLETON, parents John SINGLETON and Sarah RYAN, in 1892 and they had 4 children before Margaret died in 1901, Margaretta, John William, Robert Joseph (my grandfather) and Ada. Archibald's second wife was Lillian Rebecca KINGSHOTT and they had 2 more children. Richard STODDEN and Ann PETT were married August 1853 in Gwennap, Cornwall, England and they settled in Ballarat. I don't know when they arrived in Australia but the first of their children was born in Victoria about 1860 (if someone doesn't mind sending me BDM's for the Stodden's in Victoria, I would very much appreciate the look ups). John MARTIN married Rebecca LACEY. (Again if someone doesn't mind sending me the BDM's, I would again very much appreciate the information. I remember that the marriage was under MORTON and not MARTIN:) I'm told that John MARTIN was somehow involved in the Eureka Stockade but I don't know how or any other details. Anyone connecting with these families at all? Regards Faye
