I have been trying to discover something about the death of ISAAC EAT in 1851 in or near Bendigo. He went to the diggings from South Australia with his wife and several children sometime in 1849/50. His death has been shrouded in mystery - It is believed he could have been murdered or killed in an accident. His wife returned to S.A. with her children (and pregnant with her 11th child) by bullock wagon. I have been unable to find any record of his death and hospitals and newspapers seem to have been non-existent at that time. Anyone have any clues as to where or how I could research this event? Josephine Eatts Willunga, S.A.

Does anyone out there have access to the facts used in The Button Index to locate the explanations please? I have been told ages ago there is an entry CUSACK MARGARET 30 YEARS Born COUNTY CLARE IRELAND DOMESTIC SERVANT "SOME ASYLUMS" I would like to follow up, but how? If this is my Margaret she lived at Windermere Vic. Thanks Margaret
I know that rollcall type posts unleash a string of similar emails. While I am not exactly a fan of them, I understand that they have their place. What I do ask is that if we do them that we get the maximum value from them. What do I mean? A good subject line. Things like "Rollcall" or "Interests" aren't much help nor value. Something like: Castlemaine surnames: BURKE WILLS CAMEL Surnames: PETER PAUL MARY Then in the body of the email, please give a little more details than just the surname. Things that are useful for adding are * Indication of townships * periods of time * ship of arrival * first names; spouse name Not asking for essays, but things that add value. Many thanks, Regards Andrew List-admin AUS-VIC-GOLDFIELDS mailing list
