Good Afternoon We would like to know details of the following 2 year old boy. His name is Edward Robert McNAB b 27.4.1868 at Prahran, father Richard Borrowman McNAB b 14.2.1841 in Dundee Scotland d 13.7.1870 at Amherst Hospital. He married Jane ATTFIELD b 10.2.1839 in Surrey England d 18.6.1868 at Prahran. The marriage was at Amherst on 10.8.1867. Edward was a twin of Archibald who lived for 5 minutes. Jane died 2 months later. Richard died when Edward was 2 year old, and there the mystery begins. Great compassion would have been needed for someone to take up the task of rearing him. Regards Graham Brittain
Janis tried a number of variations, Jack, John, Oneil, oneill, neil, neal, oneal with no luck. I even tried just farmer in 1923 and still no joy. There is a Henry O'Neill in Jan down to senility. A Daniel O'Neill in July Bronco Pneunomia and in 1924 there is Henry suffocated by smoke and Thomas Bolton O'Neill heart failure. Maybe try the Geelong paper of the day as well you may be able to find this through the State Library. Other than that I am puzzled why there is no inquest. Carmel Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the paper is badly torn and all I have is Melbourne December, no year.Otherwise I would have hit the papers already. Hoping someone may have family who were in the same picture. It seemed like a big deal at the time , the way the headline is, and the way the men are presented. Very formal. Margaret
Margaret the state library have all the papers. Do you have a date for this article? if the union thing is on the reverse it may have nothing to do with it. The Port code (B, F or N) indicates which series of microfiche to look at and does not necessarily indicate the passengers' nationality. Thankyou Theresa That does sound about right. My lady was in or around Stawell at the time. I just had not heard of Moonlight hill. If it wasn't around there I was going to have to find out who the other lady was. A thankyou to Lenore for the road to women's suffrage as well. another little bit of meat to add to the bones. I haven't found any of my women on the Petition yet, but I'm happy to 'lurk' and do searches while I'm glued to this computer searching for stuff myself...! I am presently entering Trentham Cemetery files onto a Computer data base. If any one has any cemetery records re Trentham Cemetery please send them along. Many have little information and anything that can be added would be very much appreciated. Thanks Amanda - NSW
I have a very damaged photo cut from a newspaper with the above heading. The photo is of at least 12 or more men all bar one of them wearing 3 piece suits . The man second from the left in the back row is my grandfather, but as the article is so badly damaged I have no other information. His name is JAMES RAE and he lived in Ballarat. On the reverse of this scrap it talks about the rules of the Victorian Branch of the United Labourers Union. Perhaps it was a Union conference he attended in Melbourne? Would anyone know about this event, or have a photo of their family member attending as well? Thanks everyone. Margaret

Hello, My maiden name was JACKMAN. I was previously in contact with Betty JACKMAN some years ago when researching my JACKMAN family history, originating in Buckinghamshire, England. I am now back into the research and would like to make contact with Betty once again. Her husband's Jackman forebears connect with mine. Or, if there are any other descendants of Joseph-Henry JACKMAN and his brother James JACKMAN, born Peckham, Surrey in 1836, and who came to Bendigo, I would love to hear from them. (These JACKMANS as well as mine, go back to Nicholas JACKMAN in Buckinghamshire (now Oxfordshire) Many thanks, Cheers, Ally McRae (previously Griffith, nee Jackman) Bribie Island, Queensland
At the Buninyong Cemetery register it has the inscription O'Neil Charles 1.1.1873, brother of Frances Hamilton. Charles was my great great uncle and I have never heard of Frances. Charles never married and died at 40, so it must have been a sister in law. Could someone please look it up in the marriages or death index' Also I have been trying to find five O'Neils who have disappeared off the face of the earth, one possibility is;- Ballarat Courier Mon 7th May 1923 Killed in Sulky accident Jack O'Neill, a farmer in the Geelong district was killed last night in an accident to his sulky on Burrowa Road. He is the third member of the family who has met death in this manner. (John O'NEIL was born7,8 on 16 Aug 1861 in Buningyong, Victoria.) This is possibly him, as his uncle and nephew both died in accidents but I cannot find his death in BDM. Does anyone have any ideas?
