    3. I have three family members whose death certificates indicate they were buried at Tarnagulla Cemetery - none of them are listed online - after asking for help here I tried the cemetery trust but they could not help. Then, through this list, I discovered that all early records for the cemetery had been destroyed in a fire. I am assuming they were too poor to have put up any form of headstone and so have disappeared from sight in the present time. A pity, as I would have liked to have put up a simple wooden cross with their names on it. 3. I did the same with my mother - at the time of her death we were all living in Brisbane. She was cremated in Brisbane and her ashes returned to Sydney for interment in a niche at Rookwood Cemetery near other members of her family. I would think it's more important for the certificate to state where the person is buried. Carol

    3. Hi Pat. It would be best to ring the cemetery trust. On the website they say that not all burials are online. I recently had the same problem, and a call to Bendigo (and a bit of subsequent "digging") knocked down a large brick wall. The people at Bendigo are very nice, and I am sure will help you fid a way to trace him. 3. Good points I'm sure - cremations weren't common back in the 1870s however the death certificates in the 1870s were fairly accurate - and I don't believe that just because on-line indexes don't mention the name that there is a problem .. some quiet contemplation and the answer will come - be sure of it ... 3. Hello List, I have just been reading the death certificate for my Great/Grandfather SOPER Edwin/Edward, who died in April 1877, aged 42 years. On the death certificate, it states he died at New Chum, (near Bendigo), and buried at Sandhurst cemetery. But I have checked the online cemteries for the Bendigo area, and have had no luck in finding him. My question is, would there be any other cemetery around sandhurst that is not online under the Bendigo Trust, that he may be in. Or any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, on what I can do to find him. Or would someone have a cd disk for the cemteries in this area. Thank you Pat

    3. Hi Barbara Thanks for your reply. I had tried that method for births but as none had the right parents I disregarded them. Pamela found Eliza(Elizabeth) born 1855 shown as SLOOPS and as it happens it was her as she married Thomas William KELLER who is the informant on Elizabeth (Eliza) DENNISS's death certificate and is shown as son-in-law. Unfortunately I couldn't find any of the other 4 deceased children. The one in Victoria was Sarah and there are two living ones in NSW William and Elizabeth. No idea where the rest are if there others. It wouldn't be the first time that there were errors on a death certificate. 3. Good Morning Listers My GG grandfather William BOND married Eliza TAYLOR widow in 1859 in Sydney. She was 23 making her date of birth 1836. William ended up in England and was medically discharged from the army in 1861. After a great deal of searching I found that Eliza BOND married William DENNISS in 1869 again as a widow. I have each of the certificates for the marriages. I also have the death certificate for Eliza ( Elizabeth ) DENNISS in 1886 aged 50. The death certificate showed a number of interesting facts. It showed that she had been married aged 16 ( altered from 33 ) and there is a notation which reads " deceased was previously married twice - in Melbourne and in Sydney". In the past I could not find the Melbourne marriage as I assumed that TAYLOR was her husband's name but it turns out that was her birth name. I then managed to find a marriage in 1852 to James STOOPS which ties in with her being married at age 16. I also found that James STOOPS died in Sydney in 1858 which again supports her being a widow in 1859 when she married William BOND. All this tells me that I have the right person. Now for the problem. The death certificate shows children of the marriage as Elizabeth 30, William 27 ( my G grandfather ) living and 5 children deceased. I have found that Eliza and James had a daughter in 1852 in Melbourne who died aged 2mths. I have searched the Vic BDM and the NSW BDM sites and cannot find any other children for Eliza in any of her three marriages. The one that most interests me is Elizabeth who would have been born whilst she was still with James STOOPS. Does anybody out there have access to BDM records for the other states? I am wondering if the family may have left Victoria and gone somewhere else before ending up in Sydney after all James was about 24 and Eliza 16 so they may have set out on a great adventure after the death of their daughter in 1852. Any suggestions gratefully received. Regards

    3. The statement that, any hardware that is older than Vista, won't work with it is incorrect. Most hardware that works on XP will work perfectly well with Vista. Some hardware MIGHT need a patch available from the manufacturer. I have Vista on my laptop and XP on my desktop and all my hardware works perfectly well with both computers, as does all the software I ran on XP prior to buying the Vista equipped computer. Vista is not that different from XP. Someone once actually described it as XP with a new coat of paint. Of course, anyone buying a new computer will get Vista but Microsoft have promised to continue supporting XP for another 5 years or so which means no one has to change so you can stick with whatever you prefer for the time being. The family arrived in Victoria aboard the Kent in September 1867. William was a mine manager and had a number of children who would have been of school age, Theodora 10, Edmund 6, Mabel 8, John 12, older children were Adatha 19 and William 15. I would like to find out if there are any surviving records of school registrations in the area of that time. The family later moved to the Central West of NSW. Thank you Sallie Ramsay
