Dear All, As this is my first posting to the list, I'll try to explain who my lot are, and their background. (I've looked through your archives, and haven't found any info. as far back as I go, so all of you with interests in the above names may find a link. Hope so!) Most of these people are either descended from William and Elizabeth Ann Cockerell, free settlers on the Ocean, VDL, 1804 (Graham, Scutt, Ashton), or Michael Mansfield and Sophia Chilvers, also the Ocean, 1804. (Williamson and some Nappers, so far.) I only found that the Williamsons moved to Gippsland two days ago, so have very little information on them after they arrived. However, I do have heaps of information for all these families in Tasmania, before their departure. If you have found the name 'Affia' or similar in any of your researches, she's definitely one of 'mine': it's a corruption of Sophia Mansfield, nee Chilver's name. I hope to be swamped ASAP: I look forward to your replies, Carol Brill, Taswegian, now in Melbourne.
Hi Carol, And welcome to the list. If you can give us some clues about where in Gippsland, we may well be happy to "swamp away". Gippsland is a big place, so although these may be the Nappers from Sale, some clues on the Williamsons would help. (For Sale Nappers, have you seen Victoria and its Metropolis???)
