Hi, I have an old friend who rememberers his family living in Aling-ging phonetic spelling. Anyone have any idea where it might be? Was in Victoria, Gippsland? Regards, Kaye
Hi Kaye, I have to admit at first I said What?????????? However: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~surreal/AVG/Resources/Res-ws.html gives Ellinging, as somewhere near Seaspray. A school, registered number 4070, opened there in 1921 under the name Latrobe Saw Mill, and operated half time with Prospect. It closed in 1937. Little is known about it, so if your friend, via you, would like to tell us anything about the settlement, I think we would all love to learn more.
