Dear Anne, Thank you for the wonderful leads, links & info. The book I have be using as a reference is: "Settlers and Selectors" Tangil Hills to Tangil South. A Centenary History of Tangil South by Joan Hasthorpe & J.C.Rogers. It does have reference to Warrigal Creek #1 & Ninety Mile Beach ( Old Varney's Run ). It also has Joseph Samuel Varney owning a hotel in Tarraville. I don't suppose anyone would know if the old hotel is still standing by any chance. I must make a visit to the old Warrigal Creek homestead. Is it sill being used as a home by someone or is the poor thing left sad and alone, I do hope not. I have a feeling, in the back of my mind that about two or three issues ago of the Victorian Historical Journal (Royal Historical Society of Victoria) was an article on a hotel still standing at Tarraville. Since you are in Melbourne, you may find it useful to try and access that one yourself (unless someone on thel ist has a copy???) Linda
