I am researching the SLATER family in Korumburra and I am aware that Thomas Huddlestone SLATER moved from Kilmore to Korumburra to commence a watchmaking/jeweller practice in 1900. I recently visited the Coal Creek Historical Musuem in Korumburra and I noticed a newpaper montage on display dated 8th January 1894 which advertised a Watchmaker /Jeweller named P BERRICK operating out of a premise in Commercial Street. I suspect that SLATER took over BERRICK's business in 1900 (but this is only a hunch). Does anyone have information on BERRICK or SLATER and their commercial activities in Korumburra? Is there any old newpaper records in Korumburra available for research? I have a photo of the montage if anyone is interested. Regards Jason
