Okey Dokey - I was hoping one of the locals would have a bite at this one .... However, maybe they are busy. :) Jack River is due west of Yarram, not a great distance out, maybe just under 10 kilometres. Alberton is due south of Yarram, but still close. They are both in the former Alberton Shire. Woodside is 20 km north-east of Yarram, on the main road to Sale. I cannot help with any history, sorry, except to say that even then it was probably a prime dairying area. Moves were made for a school in June 1880, and opened in 1886. The school was closed in 1964. I a fairly sure it had a post office as well, but that may have been about all as far as infrastructure.
