Hi Everyone, Rootsweb is on a go-slow after a spam attack. I THINK what is happening now, as they go into recovery, is that the most recent messages are coming out first. So if you have something in there, and are wondering what has happened - give it a little longer. This one below I am sending again now, though, as it is for a function that it later today, Saturday. There is still time for you to get your glad rags on and get down there. Looks like it will be a good day - and I am only sorry I cannot be there. Cheers Linda ...................................................... Hi Everyone, Just a reminder that the Sale and District Pioneer Register is being launched tomorrow - everyone welcome, I gather. Details are in the original post are at http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/AUS-VIC-GIPPSLAND/2007-10/1191962677 and there is an e-mail address in that to contact. I have just sighted a copy, and it is rather good. It is 483 pages, A4, spiral bound (metal spiral). It seems to be mainly based on full transcripts of all births, deaths and marriages in the Gippsland Guardian, Gippsland Mercury and Gippsland Times to 1900, but with added contributions and added research from all sorts of places. Some entries have photographs. Those births deaths and marriages are good, as often they include an address, property name etc. Included is a facsimile of the autograph book from the Inaugural gathering of the Sale and District Pioneer Gathering in 1913. This has been fully subscribed and often gives details of the signatory's arrival in Gippsland. That takes up 11 pages. The map showing the area covered goes from Rosedale and Heyfield through to Delvin and Roseneath, and north as far as Bushy Park (Briagolong). It goes only as far south as Dutson and Glencoe. Cheers Linda
