Hi Robert, Slade was in Alberton by at least November 1856 when he took meteorological readings that were published in the Government Gazette in January 1857. He was then signing himself as R.N. These were also published for Dec 1856 & Jan 1857. In late 1856 or early 1857 he bought: 3 x blocks of 2 roods each at Giffard 3 x blocks of 2 roods each at Alberton 4 x blocks of 2 roods each at Welshpool 120 acres at Yarram Yarram These are all listed in the Vic Gov Gaz as having title deeds ready to pick up as at 3rd February 1857. Appointed Territorial Magistrate for Alberton 12th Aug 1857. Looks like when all TM were first appointed - about 5 pages of them listed.) In the accounts for the colony of Victoria in 1857 one entry under "miscellaneous" reads "Allowance to Mr. Slade, Superintendent of Police - 250 pounds". In May 1858 title deeds for: 7 acres, 0 roods & 7 perches at Alberton 11 acres, 0 roods 22 perches at Alberton were advertised. Public Lands Office, Melbourne, 18th November, 1858.
