Seeking information about Edgar Slade, also known as Captain Edgar Slade, R.N.; and Superintendent Edgar Slade (Victoria Police). Slade was the first Superintendent of the Gippsland Police District, based at Alberton in the 1850s, then later based at Sale. He reportedly retired to Alberton and [until contradicted by better information!] is generally accepted as being the first grape grower - wine maker in Gippsland. From: Robert Haldane
