Hi Everyone, Maffra Historical Society has just received a copy of a wonderful book compiled at Warracknabeal Secondary College that attempts to name all the men who were in the charge of the 4th Light Horse on Beersheba on 31 October 1917. Each man has a short description of his war service and some personal details. There are also indexes by area, and the men below are named from Gippsland. I was fascinated to see FOUR Langtip men from Port Albert named - although one, as a shoeing smith, may not have actually charged. I am happy to provide further details from the book offlist at kapana@netspace.net.au but the entries are too long for me to transcribe them. However they appear to be based on BD&M research, and the online records from the National Archives, so they should be easy enough to follow up.
