    3. Dear All, I made a plea on your list for any information on a piece of scrimshaw carved by one of my rellies, Nathaniel Myers. Nathaniel was related to all of the above Gippsland families, and I've spent fruitless hours trying to locate this piece of scrimshaw among various relatives in Gippsland and further afield since I first found mention of it. Your list was as helpful could be, but to no avail. Last night I was reading a book which mentioned a scrimshaw collection, so I resolved to Google this morning for that collection, held in W.A., but once again to no avail. I then tried the Armstrong collection, with a similar lack of success. Finally, as an absolute last resort, I just typed in the single word 'scrimshaw'. Hey presto, the first item to come up was: "The Nathaniel Myers scrimshaw collection"!!!! It/they? was/were purchased by the National Museum of Australia in 2005...what a Eureka moment that was! I've since contacted the museum, and plan to hot foot it up there ASAP! I rejoined the list this morning, as I thought there may be some on the list interested in my wonderful find: it just goes to show that persistence and tenacity still pay, sometimes... Best wishes, Carol Brill, Melbourne.
