    3. Hi Heather The only way I know of for researching wills is by personally going to the Public Record Office in North Melbourne (or using an intermediary) and obtaining a copy from their files. I have not done this personally but I know the procedure. They hold an index and from that you obtain the reference to the will in question and then their staff extract that document from their files. One can then either extract the relevant info or else make a photocopy of the entire document. In the past I have used the service offered by the GSV and had them do the work for me. The charge is modest and certainly a lot cheaper than making a trip to the big smoke. I have a copy of James Anderson's will (father of Samuel) which I can send you if you are interested.
