Thanks for that Sharon, The Giles brothers arrived at Lake View, Bengworden in 1865/6 and the family held the property for over 90 years before it was sold. The original brothers were John, Charles, James and James Francis. John was the manager of the Lake View property and a foundation member of the Bairnsdale Agricultural Society and Shire Council. He never married but Charles and Francis married Boyle cousins. Their family wre also living in the area at this time along with Hoffmans Blennerhassetts. All of these families are related and were from Co Kerry and they all had properties in the district. One, originally established by the Blennerhassett family is still owned and operated by the same family today. The Lake View property was both substantial and well-known in the district so I would expect it could be mentioned in any history of the area. Any lead you, or anyone can give me would be most appreciated. Regards Sharon I'm interested in contacting anyone who knows anything of the history of the Lake View property at Bengworden or of the Giles family that established this property in the mid 1800s. I believe there were 4 brothers who originally had a hand in establishing the property and that at least some of them were earlier involved in a fairly substantial overland trek from the Pentland Hills to Bengorden.
