Hi Everyone, Heritage Victoria is holding a seminar in the historic Briagolong Mechanics' Institute on Friday 30 May. There is an open invitation to anyone interested in the management of collections of objects, photographs etc. An extract from the flyer is: Gippsland custodians of heritage objects and collections are invited to attend a FREE community forum at the Briagolong Mechanics' Institute on Friday 30 May. This forum is intended to support custodians and owners who care for and manage Gippsland's heritage objects and collections. The day will provide a great opportunity for custodians to meet with other owners and heritage managers from the region and elsewhere. Participants will gain insight into the current museum practice of assessing the 'significance' of heritage objects and collections, and be given information about grant programs that are that currently being offered by Heritage Victoria for collection owners and custodians. Participants are encouraged to 'bring along' their favourite heritage object (or a photograph of one) for a workshop session during the latter half of the day; this afternoon workshop is designed to prompt discussion about the heritage values of objects and collections and to work through the process of assessing the 'significance' of heritage objects.
