Hi List, I'm helping a friend locate a 'Ghost' town in the Dargo area and seek any help on the matter I can get. We're looking for the town of Verdon, which was situated above Dargo, somewhere in the area of Treasures, possibly in the vicinity of the Evening Star Mine. The approx years 1850-60 and there were recordings of burials in the local Cemetery, but finding it or the remains of the town seem to hold some mystery. Nothing shows of the town on current Working Maps of the area. Do you know anything of the town Verdon or its location?? Doug, Verdon was located on the Dargo High Plains Road near the northern edge of the Dargo High Plains, near Mt. Bluerag. See page 127 "Victoria's Forgotten Goldfields" by Christie & Gray. They mention a Post Office & some burials in the 1860s. Another excellent book is by Luke Steenhuis, can't think of the exact title and I have lent my copy.
