Hello Elaine, I am researching a Martin Family, but I don't have any Joiner, Hines or Joy connections so far. My family is from the Toora - Foster area, beginning there with Frederick Samuel Martin and Sarah Whitehouse, who had 8 children. Frederick William, William John, Charles, Percy Bowen (my father), Sarah May (Curram), Alfred Thomas, Edward Franklin, & Violet Victoria (Bicknell) Frederick Samuel and two brothers, Alfred Charles Thomas, and William John, came from New Zealand with their widowed Mother Emily Ellen Martin, (nee Stevens), in 1870. Their father Thomas Cook Martin died in Christchurch in 1869, age 27. Emily remarried a George Cooper and the family went to the Stockyard Creek, (Foster), goldfield in 1871. I have no information about Thomas Cook Martin prior to 1862 when he married Emily Ellen Stevens in Christchurch. On their Intention to Marry Certificate they were minors, Thomas had been a resident for 5 years and Emily, from Middlesex, a resident for 1 year. No information at all about TCM, all unknown. From this certificate he would have been in Christchurch aged 15 in 1857. I have been intermittently searching for TCM's origins since about 1996, but so far nothing. Regards from Tom Tom Martin Sale Another one with a very common name.
