My great uncle Ernest Watt was employed in 1880's as an auctioneer/broker for M.Goold - Bairnsdale. In January 1889 he married Ellen Kirwan who is shown stepdaughter of M.Goold - Bairnsdale. I am trying to determine the natural parents of Ellen and believe she may have been born in Ingleside in 1856 and her father was possibly Francis Kirwan and mother was a Katherine Cussen. Presumably M.Goold from Bairnsdale would had to go through some formal adoption process of Ellen Kirwan. Does anyone know where the details of this would be kept. ie the Office of Births, Deaths and Marriages. Perhaps some kind Bairnsdale historian has some info, as I understand M (Michael I think) Goold was quite well known and was a Councillor. Regards Bruce Watt
