His e-mail is: m0097i00@cwcom.net Linda ============================================================ Hi All, I heard from a friend in Leongatha over the weekend that a plaque has been placed in Fairbank to commemorate the former Mechanic's Institute, which lasted from the 1890s until its removal in 1981. I was very excited to hear that my gggrandfather, Robert MITCHELL, may have been one of the subscribers to the original establishment. I mean, *a* Robert Mitchell was, and my ancestor lived in the area during the period and afterwards and has an anomalously large memorial stone in Leongatha cemetery (he died in 1907), so ... I'm going to get my friend to send what she has, and I do have other family (not immediate) family members still in the 'Burra, but I thought I'd take this chance to ask if there is anyone else on the list who has connections to the Mitchells and Walkers of Korumburra? (I know we're also connected to the Wilkinsons of Warragul and the Whites of (I think) Neerim South. Furthermore, does anyone else have any info on Fairbank's early history or the aforementioned Institute? Best! Lloyd Enjoying the Autumn sun in Wells-Next-The-Sea, Norfolk, UK
