Hello everyone - let's all hope for a safer season this summer. But it is that black day I want to ask about. Can you lead me to a local, Omeo focussed account of those fires? I was 7 months old at teh time. My home was completely destroyed, and my parents saved nothing except an armful of clothing which my father dived into the wardrobe adn grabbed. After he could see again, he realized he had his dinner suit and 3 of my mum's evening frocks. Very handy! Not even my safety pin! Anyway, I have read accounts of the State's worst fires, but wish to find a local account, focussing specifically on my birthplace. (We never returned). I still have in my possession a meat platter from the dinner service which came from the Bush Fire relief people of the day. Hope someone from this list will point me in the right dierction.
