Hi Linda and Barry & listers B Station was on the Snowy River between Orbost and Jarrahmond. I don't know if it was on both sides of the Snowy or just one. Murray Goulburn store is on B Road - a name given by the surveyors to this section of the Jarrahmond Road. From memory there is a B drain flowing into the Snowy River in this vicinity. There is a Mitchell Road at Newmerella and a very early land grant was to a J Mitchell. There have been Mitchells in the area since the very early days and there still is today but whether descended from the originals or not, I cannot tell you. As to how B Station came by it's name, it's most likely as Linda said - one property with A paddock and B paddock, which later became two properties. I hope this is of some assistance. Regards Lori
