Linda, Here are some more suggested entries for the Time Line - 1861 September - Latrobe River bridge at Rosedale completed, and declared open for traffice in March 1862. 1864 - Telegraph Line completed between Melbourne and Sale. 1865, January - Sale Telegraph Office opened. 1870 - The lease of Merton Rush Pastoral Run (with its homestead situated on the western side of the Morwell River south of the Old Sale Road) was transferred from James Ford Bourn to Samuel Vary, who named the district Driffield after the village in Yorkshire where he was born. 1874 - First selections at Poowong, near the western end of McDonald's Track.
