Hi, All, My g/father JOHN WILLIAMS and my father, JOHN McGINNIS WILLIAMS worked in sawmills. They lived in the Eaglehawk area mid to late 1870's and then moved to Warragul. Does anyone have access to records of John Trinca's sawmill which moved from Dead Men's (sic?) Gully, near where Darnum is today, to Warragul in 1878? I have been given three books of reference on the subject, but have no access to them up here in Nth Qld. The books are: Copeland, Hugh "The Path of Progress" (Warragul, Vic.: Shire of Warragul, 1934) p.334 McCarthy, Mike "Settlers and sawmillers: a history of the West Gippsland tramways and the industries they served, 1975 - 1934", (Melbourne, Vic.: Light Railway Research Scy of Australia, 1993) p.84 Wilde, Sally, "Forests old and pastures new: a history of Warragul, (Warragul, Vic.: Shire of Warragul, 1988) Greatly appreciate any information I receive.
