For those that asked, there are two places in Gippsland called The Springs. One is on McEvoys Track about 40 km NW of Heyfield. That is where the Clean up will be this year. Another one is 15 km west of Gelantipy and Wulgulmerang near the NSW border. BUT, seeing that two people have a Geelong-The Springs connection, I would think it must be the one mentioned as being near Ballarat. (I can't find that one in my VicRoads directory). Unlikely to be the McEvoys Track one, as I think it had a maximum of about 10 families in its heyday. No idea about the history of the one near Gelantipy. Regards Peter Lakeman
