A couple of points - a) the URL seems to be incomplete in Dianne's message and b) I'm not sure why you say "back on line again, but now you have to pay" - it is my understanding that one has always had to pay to search Victorian BDM indexes through Maxi. And a word of warning if you haven't tried to search the indexes yet - Maxi is very unforgiving if you click the wrong button. It is also unforgiving if you click the right button sometimes. Several times I have found myself with a debit of $10.00 when the system has "locked me out" either because I've clicked the wrong button and can't go back, or last time when I clicked the correct button and the system took me to the wrong place and I couldn't go back - yet I had only "spent" $3 or $4 of my minimum $10.00 initial charge. It gets worse - if I had wanted to start the search again (and risk another $10) I would have to pay to re-view all of the pages I've already viewed which didn't have "my" ancestor's information. e.g. I've looked at four pages of names and registration details, and on the fifth page I get locked out. There are, say, three pages to go. I search again, and have to "spend" 50c per page to "view" the first five pages again, even though I have already paid to view them (and lost a further "unspent" $7.50 of my $10.00 minimum) and know that they don't contain the person I am looking for. I do have to say that the delivery of ordered certificates can't be faulted though. I searched late one Thursday afternoon and had the certificates in my letterbox (snail mail!!) on the Monday morning. Even got an unexpected bonus - for on looking at the "additional" entries on one death certificate I found the entry for a daughter of the woman I had sent for - complete with her married name and names of children, previously unknown!!
