Recently I received a clipping of the death of JOHN HOPKIN of Neerim Junction taken from the Irvine Valley News, Scotland - July 1914. See quote below: John Hopkin was born in Ayr, Scotland in 1830, father Robert mother Elizabeth (?) The brothers also emigrated were likely William and Robert HOPKIN. Perhaps all three brothers married in Australia? Can anyone shed some light on these three brothers AND/OR provide some direction for my continued research? DEATH OF AN AUSTRALIAN PIONEER >From a copy of the "Warrague Guardian" just received, we learn that Mr. John Hopkins, a native of Crossroads, died at Neerim Junction on April 17th at the ripe age of 86....for twenty years he followed elusive fortune on most of the gold rushes in Victoria... in company with two of his brothers and some other gentlemen he selected land in the Neerim district.. forty years of residence at Neerim....leaves a widow. Much appreciated. Lorna Schmidt, Canada lschmidt@ebtech.net
