Noticed also various brief references to Dr Arbuckle in 'Caledonia Australis' [in 1841] including: "Arbuckle had his two-year-old daughter, Flora, with him. He was a widower and a very resourceful will o' the wisp." In actual fact Flora Arbuckle didn't arrive in Australia until 1856 when she was 18 years old! Wonder where Don Watson got his version from. This is not the only error I've picked up in Watson's book - he has my McDonalds coming from Skye when they were from Ulva & Gometra just off the coast of the Isle of Mull.
