I have in my possession two documents relating to my late mother-in-law. One is a "Notice To Parents" issued to her parents instructing them to arrange for her vaccination "within six months" from the date of birth - issued on 4th June 1906 under the Health Act of 1890. The other is a "Certificate Of Successful Vaccination" issued on October 18th 1906. Now, whilst both of these documents refer repeatedly to "vaccination" not once does either of them refer to the condition that required said jab with the needle.
