Hi All, Last Wednesday I attended the Dedication of a new Memorial Stone at the Ripplebrook Cemetery. The stone contains a Plaque with the names of all burials at the Cemetery. Only one grave stone has a marker on it, the rest having been lost to the ravages of time. The names are: on the Plaque are: 1878 The child of J & E George 1880 Francis Joseph Mapleson (55 years my great great Grandfather) 1880 Joan Simmonds (34 years) Child of R.B & M George 1882 Jessie Lye (2 years) Pearson (2 years) 1884 Susanna Mapleson (66 years my great great grandmother) John Jagoe (1 month) 1886 M.Copeland (50 years) 1887 Malichi Gray (9 years) Fensen 1890 John Gray (17 years) Unknown 1895 Child of J & H Jagoe (0 days) 1896 Maggie Doris McGee (3 years) 1896 Edward Jennings (51 years) 1897 Cecil Mallett (4 days) 1897 Child of C & S Coster (o days) 1898 James McGee (14 years) 1901 Son of G & M Gray (0 days) 1901 Edith Myrtle McGee (11months) 1902 Norman McIntyre McGee (3 years) 1902 John Benjamine Chaffey (7 days) 1902 Son of G & M Gray (0 days) 1903 Edith May Lineham (20 mins) 1903 James Hanley (8 hours) 1903 Mary Gray (1 day) 1903 Child of J & L Brown (0 days) 1905 Sarah Black (83 years) 1906 Child of C & S Coster (0 days) 1907 Child of G & M Gray (0 days) 1911 Emma Watts (32 years) 1914 Leslie Gray (1 day) Erected in 2008 as a tribute to the early pioneering families who settled in this district and now rest in eternal peace. I found it very humbling to stand at the Cemetery and to know that the place where my great great grandparents are buried will be forever marked. It was a great day and I was able to make connections with previously unknown relations. As a parent, I found it hard to read the names of the many children buried there. How difficult for families in those times, to loose one and sometimes more children so young. Hope these names will be helpful. Hello Greg, Any relation to the Tasmanian Woodmans? While researching my HEYBURN family in VDL, I came across the WOODMAN family and have a bit of info on them. Can not help you with WOODMAN in Gippsland though. GC> Hi, Wondering if anyone is researching Mathew Woodman, 1827 - 1902? GC> Like to be able to fill in some gaps in his family. GC> Greg. Can anyone tell me please where would be the best place to search/view the LDS records where I can have German records translated? Or, can someone suggest a good way of getting and reading German records? Heather Coleman Heyfield

Hello Elaine, I am researching a Martin Family, but I don't have any Joiner, Hines or Joy connections so far. My family is from the Toora - Foster area, beginning there with Frederick Samuel Martin and Sarah Whitehouse, who had 8 children. Frederick William, William John, Charles, Percy Bowen (my father), Sarah May (Curram), Alfred Thomas, Edward Franklin, & Violet Victoria (Bicknell) Frederick Samuel and two brothers, Alfred Charles Thomas, and William John, came from New Zealand with their widowed Mother Emily Ellen Martin, (nee Stevens), in 1870. Their father Thomas Cook Martin died in Christchurch in 1869, age 27. Emily remarried a George Cooper and the family went to the Stockyard Creek, (Foster), goldfield in 1871. I have no information about Thomas Cook Martin prior to 1862 when he married Emily Ellen Stevens in Christchurch. On their Intention to Marry Certificate they were minors, Thomas had been a resident for 5 years and Emily, from Middlesex, a resident for 1 year. No information at all about TCM, all unknown. From this certificate he would have been in Christchurch aged 15 in 1857. I have been intermittently searching for TCM's origins since about 1996, but so far nothing. Regards from Tom Tom Martin Sale Another one with a very common name. Hi All. Trying to determine the exact location of the property known as "Gowan Lea". It was mentioned during the late 1800's. Somewhere around Forge Creek I think. Greg.

Hello there, I've deleted your first email so forgive me for not using your first name. I'm sure you said that you had more info on the names of the people you mention. I wonder if I could have details on Gwendoline May CHRISTIE. I'm not sure where she fits into my tree but the name rings a bell. Many thanks, Ruth ----- Original Message ----- From: "KNABAT" <kntaylor@ozemail.com.au> To: <aus-vic-gippsland@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 14, 2008 5:34 PM Subject: [AVG] Fw: Trafalgar Cemetery Not trying to go one better but the Mid-Gippsland F.H.S has published the Trafalgar Cemetery with transcriptions as part of their project of transcribing all cemeteries in the mid-gippsland area. They have a web site if any info about Gippsland cemeteries is required. Cheers Bob
