    1. RE: [AVG] Clarkin family - Carlton & Bunyip
    2. Thanks Elaine, I'll try Melbourne General. He doesn't have a headstone if he's there. He had a child die in 1888 in Carlton so he could be with her - wherever she is! Emails to Melb enquiries are currently bouncing so must exercise more patience! Jenny

    1. Re: [AVG] Clarkin family - Carlton & Bunyip
    2. Hi Eric, Thanks for the tip about Clifton Hill. It all makes sense. The registration you found could be Clarkin though I first read the name as Ch... I am also dubious as his wife had four chilren after this time (the last 3 in Bunyip). I know that was not a unique event but often the registrar picked up that small anomaly of an absent 'father' and the registration reflected that. I will just have to get to the PRO soon. A curse on school holidays! I will have to wait til next week! Jenny

    3. This is probably Yarra Bend Asylum. Try looking it up on "Google", Parks Victoria mention it on their web site. Yarra Bend had its own cemetery. 2. Thanks Eric and Walter for your suggestions. Have just checked all the PRO on-line admission books for Yarra Bend and Kew but with no luck. All the other asylums are too far away or don't have on-line records for 1901/1902. Think I'll just have to wait until I get into the PRO and see the inquest. Hopefully that will be later this week so I'll report back just what C. Hill is short for! Jenny

    3. Dear Listers Brothers James and John Woodhouse moved to the Heyfield district in the 1860s from the Snowy Mountains. I am aware that considerable research has taken place on the Woodhouses who stayed in the Monaro. I am however, interested in the families of James and John. John was my great-great-grandfather. I have done a little research on their families and would love to share it or hear from other descendants of them. Regards Anne Toowoomba
