Kaye, Since John Litster was a patient at Clifton Hill Lunatic Asylum (another name for Yarra Bend), the names of his parents should be shown in the Asylum record books (held at PRO Vic) provided that his admission was arranged by his family (but possibly not if he had been "dumped"). It used to be mandatory for an inquest to be held for every person who died in a Lunatic Asylum. You should be able to find his entry in the Victoria inquests index (on microfiche) and view his file (held at PRO Victoria). Walter

Hi Everyone, This is to advise you that the list is on moderated for a short time until everyone has read their mail and understands that any further political discussion is unacceptable. It can be a trap to respond to posts as soon as we open them, without reading to the end of all our posts and seeing the whole conversation before posting. I will be forwarding on-topic posts, and will advise you as soon as it is again unmoderated. Anyone posting on the subject after that does so at their own peril, and if you wish to discuss this with me please take it up offlist at [email protected] Rootsweb asks list-admins to ensure their lists are not used for political purposes, I respect that and I would hope that others do also. Gee have I missed something? I thought this was a genealogy/family history news group. When did it become a political group. Ls
I whole heartedly agree with you Heather. If they feel so strong about the issue, they should start a forum page else-where on the subject and leave this one to family history reaearch. We all have a personal opinion lets keep it that way, this is the wrong forum. I see this as a great hobby where I can engross myself in family history and I will do what I can, where I can and when I can about our wonderful bush. Enough is enough
Hello Everyone, I turn my back for five minutes, and you get political. Everyone - this is off topic for this list - if you wish to discuss the genealogy of any of the families, that is on-topic. These posts are, however, political and offtopic. No more, please. Linda List-admin AUS-VIC-GIPPSLAND -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. I support the Mountain Cattlemen Leave the cattle where they are. Quite frankly if the livestock are removed the high country will be overgrown with dry growth , summer comes along what do you get BUSHFIRES galore then who will the polies blame. US the country folk who have taking care of the bush for over 150 years. Sharon
Where is the extra staff needed to manage the park? Betcha it will soon be covered in ragwort and blackberries and overrun with rabbits. So much for the wildflowers and native flora. To top it all, I was dismayed to see advertising for a new ski resort at Hotham in the weekend newspapers. Shirley
