Jan I am in Brisbane and can't help with your Maffra Cemetery look-up. I couldn't help but notice, however, the WARRINER surname in your request. I have a WARRINER in my family history (admittedly on the very edge of it) but not much information. I have a Jane WARRINER who married a Christopher JEFFARES (no dates and, remiss of me, no source recorded). This couple's daughter, Sarah Jane JEFFARES, married Charles WHHELOCK on 24 Aug 1853 at Mulrankin, Bridgetown, Co Wexford, Ireland. Is any of this any interest to you? Hi All, I need someone to look up a record in the Maffra Cemetery. It is for Theresa Alice Warriner, (Dolly Findley Hazlett). She was buried 1964 in Maffra Cemetery but I do not know when and where she died. Thanks, Jan Woods
The Sentinel Times is a name for the local papers for Wonthaggi/Korumburra area as two papers merged eg, Korumburra Times & Wonthaggi Sentinel. For Wonthaggi papers for 1934 you would need to look at either the Powlett Express or the Sentinel. Regards Doug Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.yahoo.com
Hi Ann, Sorry to butt in on this thread, but I can give you these details "straight from the horse's mouth" so to speak. Josiah and Sadie were my parents and they are both buried at Darlington Point, NSW. Josiah died 9/12/1987 and Sadie 14/11/2000. Frederick and Sarah, my Grandparents, are both buried at Balranald, NSW. Frederick died 8/03/1957 and Sarah in 1947 - I would have to check the full date on that one. Let me know if I can help on anything else. Hello Joy Perhaps you could consider looking at the Sentinal Times which comes out of Wonthaggi and Korrumburra or the Great Southern Star (published since 1890) which comes out of Leongatha. Both these papers report on news from the Grantville (Bass Coast) region. To my knowledge copies of most newspapers end up in the State Library system. Good luck! Eric Thanks for that will try it out. Regards Joy Light
Joy, The State Library has the "Western Port Times" on micro film 1898 - 1910. It would be worth checking with them to see if they have later editions in hard copy. Hi everyone, Just going through my family history and finally getting information entered into my computer and need a lookup in Trafalgar Cemetery if possible. Would someone please be able to see a death date for: Norma May ALBON who died sometime after 1992. She may be buried with her husband Edgar Harold John ALBON who was buried in Trafalgar Cemetery on 18th March 1992. He was living in Queensland but was brought back to Melbourne for burial. Hi everyone Could someone please tell me what newspaper would cover the above time period and area. Also where would I like be best to read it. I live in Sunbury which is an outer suburb of Melbourne. I am hoping that there may be an obituary of some kind for my great grandmother Amelia DUNBABIN nee ALLEN who died on 7th August 1934 at the age of 99 years. I am hoping that because of her age, and the fact that she lived in the area from about 1870'ish to her death that she would be listed in the local paper. Regards Joy Light
Hi Linda, No, sorry, I don't know anything about Albert Rooney, but if while cataloguing the photos, you happen across any KEMP photos, I would love to see them, in particular those of: William & Letitia Kemp and any of their 5 children, Robert (Bob), Maryann, Ellen and Charles who lived at a farm in Willung. I recently found Don Macreadie's book "Willung" at the Sale Library. In the book was a photo taken in 1910 of the Willung school picnic. I was so excited to find my father Bert and all of his siblings in the photo. If by some very remote chance, you find an original of this photo, or any other photos in the collection you are cataloguing, would you please keep me in mind? I previously hadn't seen any photos of my father and his family at a younger age than adults so it was a precious moment. I know this is a vague chance Linda, but one never knows....... Hello Joy, I've checked the South Bourke and Mornington Journal for you but no record of this obit. I have seen regular reports from Grantville in the Dandenong Advertiser which is on film from approx 1882 - 1952 at the State Library. Look in the drawer under 'D' for Dandenong Advertiser. It's full title is the Dandenong Advertiser and (something)Oakleigh Advocate. -- best wishes, Jenny
Hi Everyone, I am working my way through cataloguing the photographs in the Local Collection in the Maffra Library, and have come upon a set of 1939 photographs, said to be by an A.C. ROONEY, who appears to be a professional photographer. I know nothing about him. There is a Albert Ernest ROONEY who dies at Traralgon in 1985 aged 90 years. Does anyone know anything about either person that would help me work out if they happen to be the one and same????? Thanks! Linda -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Hello Kerry, Don't know if this is any help but you might like to check Lucy Nuttall's site and I think she has her family tree on it somewhere and perhaps there's a connection.
