    2. Julie
    3. Hi all, Reposting my interests. John WILLIAMS b. c. 1831 in Cape Town, South Africa (possibly Welsh origin) d. 6 May 1901 in Warragul (Timber splitter and farmer) m. April 26 1873 at Eaglehawk, to Mary Ann DAVIES / DAVEY b. c 1818 in South Petherton, Somersetshire, England d. 20 May 1877 in Bendigo, Victoria m. 30 July 1877 at Eaglehawk, Victoria to Ellen McGINNIS / McGUINESS / McGINNESS b. 21 Jan 1859 in Eaglehawk Flat d. 9 January 1918 in Castlemaine. On Ellen's MC her parents were listed as John HEYBURN/McGINNIS and Johanna HAYES or HEYBURN Her DC lists her parents as John McGINNIS and Johanna McGINNIS (HAYES). I think John HEYBURN changed his surname to McGINNIS. I have not been able to find Ellen's BC or origin of mother Johanna HAYES although there are many possibilities. Children born in Bendigo area: (1) Sarah Ann McGinnis / McGinness b. 16 Feb 1877 in Kangaroo Paddock, Marong d. 19 Sept 1882 in Melbourne (2) Mary Ann Phenolif / Phenoly WILLIAMS b. 24 Oct 1878 in Burnt Gully, Marong m. Joseph Marshall DUCKWORTH in Sydney in 1904 (who died in 1913 at Geelong) and then married Robert Gustav KIEPERT in 1913 at Geelong. The rest of the family then moved to Warragul c. 1877. Children born in Warragul: (3) Johanna WILLIAMS b. 25 Dec 1880 in Warragul, Victoria d. 15 April 1886 in Warragul (4) John McGinnis WILLIAMS b. 25 Sep 1882 in Warragul d. 28 Feb 1971 in Southport, Queensland (my father) (5) James WILLIAMS b. 1885 at Warragul (6) Henry William WILLIAMS b. 1888 at Warragul (7) Daniel WILLIAMS b. 1890 at Warragul d. 3 Nov 1890 in Warragul (8) Robert WILLIAMS b. 1891 at Warragul d. 1949 in Northcote (9) Ellen M WILLIAMS b. 1894 at Warragul (10) Carol Evalene WILLIAMS b. 1 Oct 1896 at Warragul Anything on above would be appreciated. -- Kind regards, Julie from Cairns mailto:[email protected]

    3. Hi all, I'm hoping that someone might know an Alan & Debbie Boyce on this list and could pass my email address onto them please ? I know this sounds like a longshot, but I know they have been active in genealogy and have researched alot of my family, I have a feeling they live or have lived in the Gippsland area and could possibly be a member of a genealogy group. The last known email address was [email protected] in 2002, I found some of thier research at http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=:2147845 I have further information that I would like to share with them and also a lot of questions about the Orchard family. If you do know Alan or Debbie, can you please pass my email address onto them. Thanks in advance Michael Grocott. -- Michael [email protected]

    3. Hi, We are interested in the Thompson family who lived around the Bendoc area 1860's, and later around the 1900's at Club Terrace. William Thompson and Mary Ann (Aspden) Thompson d 1944 and their children. I understand that there were at least 7 or 8 children. I have some very limited information about John Thompson, born in Bendoc 1890, who was my grandfather, and only the names of some of his siblings: (Charles, Joseph, Arthur, Leslie and Mary Jane), No other details on these people yet. Any information gratefully received. Naomi and Jasmine

    2. Hello listers, Is anyone researching the family of Francis BURNS and Margaret LYNCH? Looking for birth and marriage place of this couple. They were first sighted in Box Hill when child no. 5 died, but no clue where they came from. They had 8 known children with the last two born at Cranbourne and Koo Wee Rup where the family remained until at least 1907. Margaret died in January 1924 at Coburg and is buried at Fawkner but not with Francis. Her probate says that Francis was still alive in 1924 and I'm trying to determine (without buying the death cert) if Francis is the same Francis who died in Benalla. 3. Hi Linda et al, James CLYNE m. Janet Meiklejohn DUNNETT 1877. They were second cousins. Janet's mother, Annie MEIKLEJOHN was first cousin to James' mother Elizabeth SINCLAIR (m. David CLYNE as mentioned below). Annie MEIKLEJOHN is younger sister of Barbara MEIKLEJOHN (m. Donald WILLIAMSON mentioned below) so there is a MEIKLEJOHN connection but I don't have a connection between Donald WILLIAMSON and Walter WILLIAMSON (of course there may be one...). The MEIKLEJOHN family is very large. Annie and Barbara are two of 16 children. Happy to share what I've got on CLYNE and MEIKLEJOHN. Contat me off list at [email protected] Cheers, Ian >Hi Everyone, > >I am working my way through my notes, and do have a details of a >descendant of Walter Grieve Williamson and Margaret Clyne, through >their daughter Margaret (b.1862) who married Edward Pirie ALLARDYCE. >I am a little confused where some people fit in - if you desire to >contact that person, e-mail me offlist a [email protected], as >I am unsure if anyone apart from Ian is interested in this family. > >It gives Walter Grieve WILLIAMSON as the son of John WILLIAMSON and >Elizabeth MALCOLM, and born Caithness. 3. Hi Everyone, I am working my way through my notes, and do have a details of a descendant of Walter Grieve Williamson and Margaret Clyne, through their daughter Margaret (b.1862) who married Edward Pirie ALLARDYCE. I am a little confused where some people fit in - if you desire to contact that person, e-mail me offlist a [email protected], as I am unsure if anyone apart from Ian is interested in this family. It gives Walter Grieve WILLIAMSON as the son of John WILLIAMSON and Elizabeth MALCOLM, and born Caithness. Maragret CLYNE is the daughter of David CLYNE and Elizabeth SINCLAIR. It is further confused by this group of headstones, all close to each other, in Sale cemetery: In memory of James CLYNE of Tinamba, died March 6th 1895, aged 68 years. Also his beloved wife, Janet Meiklejohn, died July 27th 1892, aged 42 years, also their third son, James Allan, died June 11th 1886, aged 4 years. Sacred to the memory of Margaret Pirie, the beloved wife of Alexander ALLARDYCE, who died 21st August 1875 aged 33 years, the above Alexander ALLARDYCE, died 19th Dec 1912, aged 84 years. Sacred to the memory of David CLYNE, born Parish of Bower, Caithness, Scotland, died at Tinamba 29 June 1866, aged 79 years, also his beloved wife Elizabeth, died at Newry 12 March 1890 aged 87 years. Sacred to the memory of John ALLARDYCE of Tinamba, who died Nov 7th, 1866 aged 40 years. My main confusion comes from the Meiklejohn (is it a second name or following the Scottish tradition of sometimes referring to women by their maiden name????). Why am I confused???? Remember the other group of Tinamba Willilamsons from Caithness, which is John Williamson married a Barbara WILLIAMSON. I now know Barbara (born Leurary, Caithness), is the daughter of Donald Williamson and Barbara Meiklejohn, who were also at Tinamba. There is that name again. (John WILLIAMSON, husband of Barbara WILLLIAMSON, was born Nuidale, Scot). Cheers Linda -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. 3. Linda, Your immediate access to this information never ceases to amaze me...thanks! At risk of driving everyone to distraction, I tempt fate a bit further... My records have: Walter Grieve WILLIAMSON m Margaret CLYNE 1859 in Victoria 3 children are listed in Victorian Pioneer Index: Elizabeth b 1859 m Greenyup OSBORN 1882 Ballarat Victoria (2 children) John b 1861 m Elizabeth Emily JESSOP 1886 Tarraville Victoria (5 children) Margaret b 1862 m Edwin Pirie ALLARDYCE 1887 Victoria (5 children) Margaret CLYNE was the 5th of 10 children of David CLYNE and Elizabeth SINCLAIR. This family originated in Caithness Scotland and came to Victoria in the 1850s and 1860s in a series of immigrations, many settling in the Maffra region of Gippsland. If anyone would like to share info on the CLYNE family please contact me directly. I'm afraid i can't add anything further to the WILLIAMSON discussion... 3. Hi Jan (and anyone else sitting on the Williamson sidelines), I don't have any reason to think that incorrect (sorry about the double negative). I guess Walter G. WILLIAMSON and Margaret CLYNE/KLINE had a fair number of children, I just don't have the list. Elizabeth Mary WILLIAMSON was buried 11 June 1926 in the Heyfield cemetery aged 63 years, and John on 19 May 1927. There is no headstone. The actual entries often contain places, property names etc. Also, on reflection, in an earlier e-mail you spoke of children born to Simeon at Rosedale. The property I have described to you in the parish of Winnindoo was in the Shire of Rosedale, even though it was quite close to Heyfield. I am unsure if there were requirements to register births at particular places (eg go to Rosedale in the shire of Rosedale, instead of just across the river to Heyfield, which would have been the main shopping town). For locals trying to work out where I am talking about, it is quite close to Kennevan's Corner. Cheers Linda At 02:54 PM 4/08/2005 +1000, Carol wrote: >Affia Williamson-was born in VDL. 3. Dear All, Thanks to everyone who has helped me in my quest for the Williamson children of the above couple. It seems that they had an unfortunate surname for research purposes, in the Gippsland area! I'll now list this lot as far as I've gone, thanks to everyone's help. Thomas Williamson- (This person is not a child of Ramsay and Susannah, according to Kim Harbeck Steiger, even though he named a daughter 'Clara Affia', and she was born in Tarraville. I'm gobsmacked by that information! We're working on it.) Sophia Sarah Williamson- was born on 24 Aug 1838 in Hobart, VDL and died on 10 Nov 1839 in Hobart, VDL at age 1. Sophia Sarah Williamson-was born on 9 Jan 1840 in Tas. William Ramsay Williamson-was born in 1842 in Tas. and died in 1924 in Vic at age 82. William married Mary Rose Hoff-in 1872 in Vic. Henrietta Williamson-was born in 1845 in VDL. and died in 1869 in Vic at age 24. Affia Williamson-was born in VDL. Affia married Simeon Napper senior. Donald Williamson- was born in 1846 in Monaro, NSW. (Does anyone have any information on this Donald?) Catherine Williamson-was born in Tarraville, Vic in 1848 and died on 24 Jan 1923 in Sale, Vic. at age 75. Isabella Susannah Williamson- was born in 1854 in Tarraville, Vic. and died in Sale, Vic.. If anyone has come across any of these people in their researches, I'd be very pleased to hear from them, once again. Best wishes, Carol Brill.
