    1. [GEELONG] Plea to new listers (and some oldies)
    2. J & T Williams
    3. Could I please add to Susie's recent emails on this and the Bellarine lists re protocols, at the risk of earning a reprimand, and make a plea, particularly to the expected new listers (old ones should know better, but some obviously don't). Many of us subscribe to several lists, as well as doing research on queries from other listers, and with our "other lives" to run also, probably do not have a lot of time to read all the messages posted to the list, even in digest mode. I read the headings and select the ones which look to relate to my fields of interests, and often have to simply delete, unread, those with vague headings such as "new to list", "relisting my interests", "new members interests", "reserching names", "look up please" and similar vague headings. Time simply does not allow the luxury of a leisurely read of all the listers problems, even though I was promised many times that retirement came complete with plenty of spare time (ha! ha!) If you want the most coverage of your query to listers, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, put something descriptive, and of interest in the heading, such as the surnames of families researched, towns of interest, type of lookup, etc. Also do not forget to appropriately revise the existing subject heading when responding, via the list, to a query. Sorry Suzie, I consider myself reprimanded in advance, and have slapped my wrist. John W (NSW)
