    1. Re: [GEELONG] Geelong families
    2. Pam: You and Susie are SO amazing....Here I sit a gazillion miles away (doing little but reveling in what you all provide for us) and you offer still more!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, and a HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE ON THIS CONGENIAL SITE!!! Marylyn D. Adams Ocala, Florida, USA Searching in AU: (Queenscliff, Victoria area---I think/guess) James and Ruth Mitchell Hill and descendants, and (elusive brother) William Hill and whomever......... These brothers were sons of... (hold your breath!) .....Nathaniel and Emlyn Clift Hill---he was a prominent carpenter in St John's Newfoundland---they had come from UGBOROUGH, DEVONSHIRE, ENGLAND where they were married. James was "carpenter of Ashby"....Ruth and he were married in 1854 in Geelong......supposedly had a son named George who died in 1879----at age 21---the "bootmaker of Preston Street" My direct ancestor was their brother George Clift(on) Rowland Hill, who, evidently, never traveled to AU but from his accounts---one of the two (James or William) was in "mining" and the other into "sheepraising"...... Any and all help greatly appreciated.....It is only from ones on this list, (PAM, Susie, BLINKYBILL esp) that I have garnered the present information.
