I posted this message in the soc.gen.ausnz newsgroup, but got no reply, so I thought I would ask the wise people at this list. The question is, how does one look for the shipping details of someone who came to australia around 1860, not as an immigrant, but simply to visit with family? Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Alwynne
Hi Alwynne For the answers to any general questions like this a good starting point is Nick Vine Hall's book Tracing your family history in Australia, 3rd edition, which should be held by any good public library. If not ask them to get it. cheers Grahame on 20/8/03 4:41 PM, alwynne mackie at alwynnem@melbpc.org.au wrote: > I posted this message in the soc.gen.ausnz newsgroup, but got no reply, so I > thought I would ask the wise people at this list. > The question is, how does one look for the shipping details of someone who > came to australia around 1860, not as an immigrant, but simply to visit with > family? > Any help would be much appreciated. > Many thanks, > Alwynne > > > > ==== AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT Mailing List ==== > Geelong & District and Bellarine Indexes : > http://www.zades.com.au/geelong/gdbksrc1.asp > http://www.zades.com.au/bellhs/bpnmsrc1.asp >
