Hello Lynn, Not much to report on the name Addis in the Christ Church booklet but I"ll copy out the relevant info.:- As early as February, 1841, when the population of Geelong was returned as 454, subscriptions for an "Episcopalian" as distinct from a Presbyterian Church were being collected. (Until this time the Anglicans were worshipping at a small church, St. Andrew's, built in Yarra Street in 1842.) On Monday, 12th July, 1841, fourteen gentlemen met at the office of Mr. Henry Tyssen, solicitor, paid one pound of their subscriptions, and in accordance with the Act of Council elecgted five of their number as Trustees. These were Lieutenant E.B.Addis, R.N......... Hope this is of interest to you Lynn. Guess Point Addis down near Anglesea was named for the Lieutenant. Regards, Judy in Deniliquin.
