Hello everyone This is my first posting so I will list the names I am interested in. MICHAEL QUIRK , Denis, Michael and Grace COSTIGAN who I believe all arrived in victoria in 1841 on the ship Enmore. Michael Quirk and Grace Costigan were married at Geelong's RC St Mary of the Angels church in `1846. They lived near Mt Moriac until 1861 farming the land. I believe Michael Quirk may have been an inn-keeper at Mt Moriac earlier. I would love to hear from anyone who thinks they may belong to the Costigan or Quirk families and various descendants. Does anyone know if the inn at Mt Moriac still exists or is it known exactly where it was? Thank you Vicki
Hi Vicki - am compiling a list of all country publicans around Geelong's district so am interested to know more of your Michael Quirk. I don't think I ahve come across this name as yet although I have only covered the 1850's at this stage. Will be pleased to know more and swap anything I come across. reagrds, Pam Jennings ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vicki Moran" <vmoran@dragnet.com.au> To: <AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 20, 2003 12:11 PM Subject: [GEELONG] new member interests > Hello everyone > > This is my first posting so I will list the names I am interested in. Witnesses were Michael Costigan and John Molony. Five of their children were also baptised there, and places of residence given on the baptisms were Moorabool River (1846), Batesford (1847), Point Henry (1850), Mt Moriac (1852), Mt Moriac (1854). If you'd like copies of these baptisms contact the researcher at the Geelong Family History Group's webpage.
