    3. Hello Robyn and Pauline, "Search engines are remarkable things" While I understand ( never been there) one of the Major heritage ( pre 1850) buildings in Hobart is also named Lumeah the more detail ( hence Susies request for names associated with the property name ) the more likely it will be possible to properly Identify the correct one. "Aboriginal names have been popular for a long time, particularly words such as Wahroonga, which means our house,.. and Lumeah, which is here I rest...." Mr Gould recorded the history of house names in his first book, House Names of Australia, published in 1994." Quite apart from this particular instance, when posting queries the use of specific names, places and dates are ALWAYS helpful for other listers who may just have happened to read a reference during their own research. bfn john mrshaw@bigpond.com wrote: > john, what a fund of information you are. someone always knows...robyn. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "John Whitehand" <wht4hnd@vicnet.net.au> > To: <AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, August 17, 2003 6:46 PM > Subject: [GEELONG] Lumeah, Birregurra,Sherren Family > > > >> A real significance in LUMEAH thanks to G O O G L E I have discovered: >>A book titled The Sherrens in Australia >>http://www.islandregister.com/sherren/pg201_225.html >>- Page 224 - >> >><great big bits edited> >> >>The youngest of the original William Sherren, who immigrated to >>Australia, was John Curtis Sherren, who was named after William's >>brother.
